Poppy joined us recently after spending several years at AST Plastic Containers as IBC/Recycling Production Manager, and prior to that, at Recyclan.
She holds a Certificate of Technical Compliance, has attained her WAMITAB Level 4 qualification, and also holds COSHH and IOSH certifications.
Poppy’s interests include running, travelling and spending time with family and friends, and she is also a supporter of Everton FC.
Liz Nicholson has been with us since July 2021. Liz was previously employed by U.K. Waste Management Limited (now Biffa) and CSG Lanstar Limited. She has also worked within Property Development and Water Treatment industries.
Her hobbies include woodworking, gardening, listening to David Gilmour and spending lots of time with her dogs.
Sophie moved to Recycling UK Limited in January 2021 after working in the finance department at Papersort UK Limited since January 2014. She is back up and support for our FC David Jones and handles all incoming invoice checking and processes payments.
Her hobbies include days out with her children, going to gigs, festivals and running.
Carole joined us in January 2007 as an admin Assistant. As export demand to the Far East increased, Carole’s role changed to export coordinator and quality control. Diligently checking export documentation, loading presentation and compliance for deep sea exportation.
Carole’s interests are travel, walking, spending time with her family and tending her newly acquired allotment
Rachel joined us in 2010 and has over time become our expert on dealing with our customers and arranging shipment of containers to the Indian Sub-continent and handling all the complicated paperwork, documents and banking complications associated with such.
Away from HQ Rachel enjoys the outdoors, travel, concerts and watching Liverpool FC.
Olivia Harvey joined Recycling UK as a Trainee Commercial Assistant in September 2025 and is developing her knowledge and experience within the admin team. In her role, she provides administrative support, assists with customer queries, manages weight data, and supports export and import clearances helping to ensure the smooth day-to-day running of commercial operations.
Olivia is committed to delivering a high standard of service and is keen to continue developing her skills within the recycling industry. She has a strong interest in the environment and is proud to be part of a business that promotes sustainable practices.
Outside of work, she enjoys travelling, doing pub quizzes and spending time with her friends and family.
Tom Gibbons is a member of the commercial team, having joined the business in October 2023 from our Papersort UK Ltd business. Tom plays an important role in sourcing tonnage for the depot at Oswestry and our associated partners throughout the UK, helping to strengthen our supply and support the wider operation. He specialises in trading cardboard, paper grades, plastics, aluminium cans etc.
With a strong commercial focus and a proactive approach, Tom is committed to building relationships and identifying opportunities that deliver value across the supply chain.
Outside of work, Tom is a keen golfer playing off a handicap of 2 and enjoys spending time walking his Weimaraner, Grace and is an avid supporter of Manchester City.
Alison is our office support Manager.
Our longest serving employee. She has been with the company since April 1999 and has worked in most departments within the group including admin, transport, export, India and commercial support through those twenty-seven years thus she is able to offer support and back-up to all. She was previously employed at LCS group as a toner cartridge recycler.
Her hobbies include ballroom and sequence dancing, walking, the theatre and following The New Saints (TNS FC) who RUK Group sponsor.
Dan who is our Logistics Co-ordinator joined us in 2023 on a two-year training course. He is responsible for sourcing, pricing and arranging all our transport within the UK, Ireland and Europe.
He enjoys helping to keep things running smoothly and outside of work he likes spending his spare time camping and enjoying the outdoors.
Simon is the Group Operations Director. He joined Neil at RUK in August 1998 as a shareholder and director responsible for commercial activities and trading. He had worked in the paper recycling sector since 1985 with spells at Salter Paper under the guidance of the legendary Roy Salter, IL Returrpaper UK, IWPP Ltd, Mayer-Melnhof UK, and Kimberly Clark.
Simon was heavily involved in our early work with the Vora family and setting up our joint venture with them in Mumbai India in 2007. He was also heavily involved with our purchase in 2012 of Oswestry Wastepaper (now incorporated into Papersort UK Ltd) from Cheryl Davies and her family and still looks after that side of the business as Group Operations Director. Simon has always been an avid supporter of IWPPA (Now The Recycling Association) and spent many years as a council member and is a proud past president of the Association. Simons interests include football as a devoted supporter and season ticket holder at Manchester City, going to the gym and cooking.
Lisa joined the company in 2008 after finishing Business & Marketing studies.
As Commercial Admin Manager, Lisa oversees the day-to-day commercial administration. Working closely with our Commercial team to ensure all trades are compliant, accurate and everything is completed ready for invoicing and payment.
Lisa takes pride in keeping things organised, ensuring all the details are correct and helping everything run as smoothly as possible behind the scenes.
Outside of work Lisa enjoys reading, travelling, spending time with her family and, of course, making the most of time with her dogs.
David is the Financial Controller at Recycling UK Ltd.
He has worked in accountancy for 23 years and worked with businesses of all sizes. He worked alongside RUK at our auditors from 2014 to 2023 when he decided to join us, leading finance across our group of companies.
His hobbies include music, playing the guitar, football and rugby.
Marie joined us in 2003 as an admin assistant and moved onto our logistics department in 2005 before joining the commercial team in 2007. Marie is recognised as being one of the top traders of wastepaper and associated recycled materials in the UK.
Marie’s interests out of work are socialising, travel, the gym and quality time doing things with her children and grandchildren.
James has worked at Recycling UK Limited since August 2013 when he joined us as a trainee commercial assistant and offers support to our commercial teams when they are travelling and oversees the admin and logistics at Portal HQ. Before joining us, James had previously worked in the hospitality industry.
Outside of work James takes an active interest in football and in particular refereeing, working as a referee match day coach for Cheshire FA and is a passionate supporter of Portsmouth FC. He also enjoys spending time with his family, running and going to the gym.
Alex joined the company in October 2010 as a management apprentice for two years after deciding there was more chance of progress doing such rather than three years at university. He has progressed through the ranks and became a commercial manager in 2017 and a shareholder in July 2024 when his role changed to Commercial Director.
He has spent time shadowing Neil at European and CPI meetings and in 2022 was elected to join the council of The Recycling Association. Alex has spent a considerable amount of time in recent years travelling in Europe and the Indian sub-continent meeting, our long-term customers and new prospective customers.
Alex’s hobbies are socialising, playing football and following Wolves, repairing old cars, playing golf and spending time with his family.
Neil is Managing Director of Recycling UK Limited and its group of companies which incorporates Papersort UK Limited, Shredding UK Limited and RUK India which is a joint venture with Adler Paper LLC which is based in Mumbai. He was MD of his family-owned Interport Paper Group of companies which was sold to UK Waste/Waste Man Inc in 1995.
Neil worked for UK Waste/Waste Management International as Group Commercial Trading manager for three years before forming Fibre Recycling UK Ltd in June 1998 (we changed our name to Recycling UK Limited in 2003). A past vice and acting president of IWPPA (now The Recycling Association) Chairman of IWPP Ltd (The trading division of The Recycling Association) and currently sits on The Confederation of Paper Industries (Recovered Paper Division) and is a UK representative on Europarec which is a body represented by a select group of large recycling and waste disposal companies representing most European countries.
Neil’s interests include football as a committed long term season ticket holder at Everton, golf, cycling and spending time with his family and dogs.
